The Stratford-Upon-Avon Herald reports that a population of rare, protected orchids were poached from Draycote Meadows, a Site of Special Scientific Interest near Rugby, UK. The Green-winged orchid (Anacamptis morio) is a widespread but near threatened orchid from England and Wales. It grows in unimproved grasslands, mainly on chalky soils, and flowers in May and June. Warwickshire Police are seeking further information on the poaching of these plants.
